In addition to PurePOWER Technologies, Kassling is Lead Director of Wabtec Corporation, a board member of Parker Hannifin Corporation, the Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Texas Rangers. Kassling is also a member of the advisory board of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute.

Kassling serves as Lead Director of Wabtec Corporation, where he was initially President and CEO of Wabtec in 1990. Kassling relinquished his responsibilities as president and CEO in February 2001 but was reinstated when the incumbent CEO faced health issues in May 2004, and again relinquished the President and CEO titles in February 2006 and the Chairman title in May 2013. Prior to Wabtec, Kassling spent six years overseeing its operations as American Standard’s Vice President, Group Executive, Railway Products Group.  Prior to that, between 1978 and 1984, he served American Standard Incorporated first as Vice President, Strategic Planning and Development and later as Vice President, Group Executive, Building Specialties Group. From 1974 to 1978, Kassling held various operating and strategic planning positions with Clark Equipment Company.  Previous to 1974, he was an early member of the Boston Consulting Group, served as an officer in the United States Navy, and was a first line supervisor in machining and assembly for Parker Hannifin Corporation.

Kassling also served as a board member with Aearo Corporation Commercial, Intertech, Dravo, Scientific Atlanta and SmartOps Corporation. He is also a former trustee of Shadyside Academy, La Roche College, the advisory board of the Krannert School of Business of Purdue University, and the Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania.
